Character Interview for The Irish Warrior by Ashley York

I loved the book. It was a non stop read and I fricken loved that you don't need to read the other books to know what's going on. Heart broken and thinking he could not love, a man finds he didn't even know what love was. And Thomasina was a woman who did not think her worth was anything, found that she could be loved and sought after.

They were a strong couple who complimented each other. The story was great. I loved every bit of it and hated when the book was done. I would have kept reading if she had kept writing. There was enough action to keep me happy and enough hotness to keep others happy. I hope to see Thomasina brothers Niell and Lachlann in a book to come. Ashley York is a very talented writer. She can bring people into her world with words and we would not even know we were walking among the characters. Time passes by and you forgot to eat or drink something. Yes this book is worth

A Character Interview for Thomasina of The Irish Warrior

Verra nice to meet ye, Kimi. Ye've a lovely name I have not heard overmuch. Thank ye for having me visit with ye today.

What are your strongest/weakest traits?

Weel, I have to say I do not think of myself as strong, as a man is strong, but in the mind? I'd say I am. I dunna like to take no for an answer and I certainly dunna like to be told what to do unless I've a mind to do it on my own, ye ken? Just to be told to do this or that, to go here or there? Nae, I will not have it. Dunna take me as a willful daughter but 'twas my own father who started me down this path I now find myself on. He canna just order me to marry someone when he has himself in a bit a trouble, ye ken? I am not to be bossed around with no will of my own. Now my brother Niall? He kens that and he respects me for it although dunna be asking him directly or he will be saying 'tis not so. (Thomasina winks) Ye ken how the mind of a man works.

What are your fears?

I've a fear of being abandoned. I've been on my own with no one but my brother to count on but if he were not there, I would be afeared. When I went to find him? When my father tried to force me to marry that old man? I was sore afeared, my own heart pounding in my chest like I'd run a great distance. Then what did I find? Not my brother. I found my horse. Daisy! Do ye believe that? And what a handsome warrior astride her. He near took what breath I had left right away from me. Ye ken? So I had to keep my wits about me to try and get Daisy back. With Daisy, I could find my brother.

Most embarrassing thing that ever happened to you?

What brought my cheeks to full bloom? The way the warrior, Sean, looked at me. He called me lad and talked to me like I was a man but when his eyes perused me? 'Twas embarrassing for me when my stomach started fluttering and I could not even catch my breath. And when he near kissed me? Oh, I wanted his lips on mine, to feel them firm against me. That was embarrassing—if I was indeed a lad, ye ken? And then my body stirring at the mere expression on his face! His smoldering eyes looking right down into my soul. I wanted to press up against him and melt, with nothing holding me up but his strong arms.

What is the trait you most deplore in yourself?

I hate my fear. I want to be strong but my mind starts going on all that could happen and I'm lost in a dark spiral of fear! I deplore that trait the most. 'Tis funny but I dunna feel that afeared when I'm with Sean. He'll ken what to do next, whatever happens. He makes me braver, ye ken? I trust him with my fear, too. He would not tease me like my brother. He'd try and take away my fear, I ken it. He's a good man. A brave man.

About Ashley York

Ashley York – Author of Medieval Romance and Intrigue
…Where History Takes a Passionate Turn

Two things you should know about Ashley York – Author of Medieval Romance and Intrigue right up front. I’m a hard-core romantic. I believe true love does exist and once found, can transform your life from a solitary journey into a passionate adventure. I love history with larger than life heroes, chivalrous knights, lords and ladies, castles, manors, battles and conquests. These are the foundations for passionate, medieval romance novels. That’s what I write. There is nothing like the intense emotions sparked between a driven, hard-working medieval warrior and a feisty damsel in a quandary, often not of her own making.

It only makes sense that I use my MA in History and all those research techniques to create romantic characters from the past. Although my works are fiction, I like to incorporate authentic places, events, and people to peak your interest. I use real history but with an artistic flare. I love research, especially from primary documents, and could get lost in them! You’ll discover a world of fiction wrapped around historical people and events in my stories. Some events you may recognize and some are just from my imagination.

Ashley York. I’m fascinated by the High Middle Ages in Scotland, England, and Ireland. There are so many world-changing events taking place here from their participation in the Crusades to the Battle of Hastings that permanently connected the islands to the continent. Before the Declaration of Arbroath, before William Wallace, before the Doomsday Book, the area was ripe for great events and they never failed to deliver. It is on this combustible backdrop that I create characters with the same desires and motivations as we have today.

When I’m not writing, I enjoy cooking. It’s relaxing and I always like to find something new and easy. On Fridays I occasionally share simple recipes with Foody Friday. Sometimes entrees. Sometimes desserts. Sometimes snacks. Always delicious.

Truly a “Treasure”: First Novel in the Anticipated ‘Rienfield Chronicles’ Redefines the Fantasy Genre with Cinematic Tale of Romance and Adventure

Vividly imagined by M.T. Magee, ‘The Treasure of Gwenlais: The Rienfield Chronicles Book 1’ is taking the fantasy world by storm, with a coveted five-star rating on Amazon, Kobo, and Barnes and Nobel giving her now over 20 five star reviews, and a growing band of devoted fans. With a courageous and beautiful heroine, daring and romantic hero, and a mythical kingdom on the brink of war, ‘The Treasure of Gwenlais’ is an enchanting read that will transport readers from the moment they open to the first page…

For Immediate Release

New Hampshire – Astonishingly, ‘The Treasure of Gwenlais; The Rienfield Chronicles Book 1’ is M.T. Magee’s first novel, but readers would never know it. After all, creating fantastical worlds that feel as real as the earth that surrounds us is no easy feat. However, under the skilled hands of a writer like Magee, it appears seamless.
Taking her fans on magical journeys is what Magee lives for as a writer, and she’s certainly done so with the first in her planned series of books exploring the mysteries, dangers and electrifying romance of Rienfield, her glorious creation inspired by her family’s heritage.
“Rienfield feels very personal to me,” says Magee with a smile. “I’m of Scottish descent and my husband from Irish – so with those cultures in mind, I sketched out this other world, other universe, really. I fused the wild beauty of the Scottish highlands with the lush greenery of Ireland to serve as a backdrop for the mythical realm of Rienfield.”
While the landscape will fascinate readers of all ages, it is the loves, feuds, sweeping romances and epic battles of the people of Rienfield, and the new fantastical races and creatures not found anywhere else, that will make this series a favorite of the genre for decades to come.
Synopsis:
Princess Laurel of Gwenlais, finds herself tragically and quickly thrust into a world of danger, so unlike the idyllic and sheltered life she has known. These dangers from an unknown enemy, also unexpectedly throw her into the arms of Caleb, the warrior Prince of Heathwin, the nearby kingdom in which Gwenlais has a tense alliance with. The more refined people of Gwenlais, find their neighbors and protectors of the West necessary, but consider them uncouth and sometimes barbaric. The long and bloody feud between Heathwin, and the mysterious, frightening, and misunderstood, race of beings, called the Rabkins, had finally reached an uneasy truce, by the hard fought and diligent efforts of Prince Caleb. This fragile agreement, was soon shattered by an attack from outside, that threaten both kingdoms of Gwenlais and Heathwin.
Laurel and Caleb find themselves, not only fighting for the peace and existence of their kingdoms, but fighting for their new found love that is imperiled at every turn from a nameless enemy, and their own people as well. Laurel follows her calling, by beginning her training in the ancient healing arts of the Ollams. She soon finds that her skills may be needed to heal more than just the physical wounds of others, but also the wounds of the heart, long put upon by the people of both she and Caleb’s kingdoms by the mistrust and bigotries of either side.
As they draw closer together, they discover just how far this unknown enemy, has gone to tear them apart from within. They must together, find a way to rise above old and long standing prejudices, and form a much stronger alliance in order to fight against the new enemy from outside of their borders, that threatens their very survival.
Early reviews of the book have been glowingly positive.
“This is the 1st book & debut novel of MT Magee, which just astonished me, since I would consider this some of the finest fantasy to come out in years,” wrote Elizabeth A. Evans.
Amazon reviewer Cathy H. agrees: “This is an amazing story of Laurel and Caleb who find themselves not only fighting for peace for their kingdoms but are also fighting for their love. Ms Magee has created a world of fantasy that stirs the imagination. With characters that are well developed you can feel the love, sorrow, and humor in each of them. If you want a story with adventure, sacrifice, and love you must get this amazing book. It is the first in a series and it won't disappoint!”
Amazon reviewer Heather L commented,  “MT Magee’s very first book is wonderful. She writes a fantasy that the reader wants to be a part of. Her heroine is very complex and has many intriguing faucets. Not only is she a princess who must do whatever she can for her people and her land but she is also a healer, one that must learn her ability and use it wisely. The author writes her heroine with so much detail that the reader can peel back each of her layers and truly get to know the woman inside. The hero is just as interesting and evolved. He helps the Heroine Princess Laurel to learn and grow from a spoiled girl to a kind and strong woman. Together they must fight for their love as well as their kingdoms. They must battle evil doers and protect what is most important to them both.
MT’s background and secondary characters are just as detailed as the main characters. The magic of the story is one I haven’t experienced in a long time. It is a perfect mix of fantasy and romance that keeps you turning the page for more and more adventure. Every aspect of this story is written perfectly, from the characters, to the plot line; from the first page to the very last. I cannot wait till the second book comes out.”

And M.F.D a reviewer from Kobo had this to say, “Wonderfully told fantasy story. Great job!!!
WOW!!! Where do I start?! This is a brilliant new book, by first time author, M.T. Magee. This is a long read to be sure, but I found that it flowed very well, it did not 'bog down'. There are so many elements all masterfully woven together. This is the story of a fantastic realm, centered around the two kingdoms of Gwenlais, and Heathwin. These kingdoms have had an uneasy alliance together for many years, but now there are forces from outside that are trying to tear them apart. Enter Prince Caleb of Heathwin, and Princess Laurel of Gwenlais. They must come together to unite their kingdoms against this unseen force, while trying to bury long held mistrust and unrest. You will truly be 'hooked' by the first page. It starts off with a bang, and finishes with a.... I'm not going to say. You will just have to read it for yourself. Again, so many elements to this story. There is great action, adventure and tragedy, along with suspense and intrigue, and yes romance. I am a man reading this, and while there is a strong love story, I found that it was very well done, and you ladies out there should enjoy it as well. There are great relationships between the leads, family is important. Another aspect of this book, is the wonderful 'new' peoples and creatures that the imagination of Ms. Magee was able to come up with. I feel that it can be summed up by a quote from my favorite sci-fi series. "To boldly go where no one has gone before." You will not find mention of the often used, or overused, elves, dwarfs, wizards, etc. Now don't get me wrong, I love these guys, big fan of Tolkien, just nice to see some new creations. The race of beings called the Rabkins, and also the Kedesh, are just two of many new and interesting, sometimes frightening creations of hers. Another aspect that I really enjoyed, was her use of 'old speak' which was based on old Gaelic. This was just one part of the book that was taken from old Irish and Scottish traditions, names and places. Speaking of language, the witty banter and dialogue between the characters was masterful. There is a nice blend of humor too, some outright LOL moments. You can lose yourself in a scene because you can 'hear' them talking. Her descriptions of people and places were so well done, so descriptive, that you will be able to 'see' them. Her ability to write in 'proper' English, harkens back to writers like J. Austen and E. Gaskell. So with that being said, this is truly an epic fantasy adventure!! Only one spoiler alert. This is the first in a series of books that will entertain you for years to come. It is a place you will want to revisit often. I cannot wait for the next installment!”

FEVERBORN is out in a little over a week by KMM

http://karenmoning.com

In Karen Marie Moning’s latest installment of the epic #1 New York Times bestselling Fever series, the stakes have never been higher and the chemistry has never been hotter. Hurtling us into a realm of labyrinthine intrigue and consummate seduction, FEVERBORN is a riveting tale of ancient evil, lust, betrayal, forgiveness and the redemptive power of love.
When the immortal race of the Fae destroyed the ancient wall dividing the worlds of Man and Faery, the very fabric of the universe was damaged and now Earth is vanishing bit by bit. Only the long-lost Song of Making—a haunting, dangerous melody that is the source of all life itself—can save the planet.
But those who seek the mythic Song—Mac, Barrons, Ryodan and Jada—must contend with old wounds and new enemies, passions that burn hot and hunger for vengeance that runs deep. The challenges are many: The Keltar at war with nine immortals who’ve secretly ruled Dublin for eons, Mac and Jada hunted by the masses, the Seelie queen nowhere to be found, and the most powerful Unseelie prince in all creation determined to rule both Fae and Man. Now the task of solving the ancient riddle of the Song of Making falls to a band of deadly warriors divided among—and within—themselves.
Once a normal city possessing a touch of ancient magic, Dublin is now a treacherously magical city with only a touch of normal. And in those war-torn streets, Mac will come face to face with her most savage enemy yet: herself.
