Kendíka’s second chance at life begins as a nightmare.
Will the eerie eyes always looking down from the sky reveal themselves?
Kendíka challenges the aliens no one has ever seen to bring about a better life for the humans trapped in the surreal Regency world she wakes up in.
While getting to know her alien owner, she discovers the aliens aren’t so perfect and have much to learn about humans.
Will Kendíka survive or perish, attempting to make life better for the people living on Regency?

Excerpt

Startled by the lack of movement, Kendíka sat up in bed, scanning the shadows in the moonlit room. Perspiration beaded her forehead while her heart pounded against her ribs. The last thing she remembered was sitting in the limousine next to Mr. Vetrano, arguing about her future. He insisted the will mandated her future, not him. Did the pill knock her out? How dare he drug me!
She blinked and, holding her breath, glanced around the unfamiliar room. When her lungs screamed for air, she exhaled then took another deep inhale. What the hell? What happened to the limousine?
Butterflies unsettled her stomach. Her back stiffened. Her heart drummed. Oh, my God! When did I get out of the car or come to this room? Why would Mr. Vetrano bring me to such a freaky place? Fear and the thought of her parents’ death brought fresh tears to her eyes.
She slid out of bed and shuffled her bare feet along the stone floor, hands held out to make sure she didn’t bump into anything hidden by the shadows.
At the opposite end of the room, she could make out a dark blob, which she hoped might be the door. Somewhere along the wall near it, she would find a light switch.

My Interview with Annamaria Bazzi

1. Tell us about yourself

I’ve always loved reading and writing. I started taking creative classes in high school and through college even though my degree is in computers. So far with all the stories I’ve written, the characters pop into my head demanding their story be told.

2. Tell us about your new book?

White Swans A Regency World is a story of discovery. Finding the worth of real friendships and the down falls that come with greed.

3. When you write, does your real life spill over into your book at any time?

No, it never does because when I’m writing I get completely engrossed in the lives of the characters and their world. It’s almost as if I’m living what they are experiencing.

4. Do you think about a book of yours, being made into a movie, or not when writing?

While writing a book I never think about movies, sales, it’s popularity with readers…I concentrate on trying to write the best story possible. Once I’m done writing it though, like most authors, I do dream about movie contracts and which actor should be playing what character. It’s a fun thing to do, but I don’t dwell upon it too long and move on to the next project.

5. When naming your characters, do you give any thought to the actual meaning?

Yes, names and their meanings are very important to convey something about the characters themselves. Sometimes I’ve spent hours searching for the best name for a particular character. At other times, though, I enjoy making up names like Kendíka’s.

6. What made you want to write and also what made you want to write the genre you are writing?

I grew up reading, started as a little child, unable to read yet, with fairytales and comic books, but the comic books I read were quite different. Growing up in Italy my favorite comic book was the Odyssey by Omer, but I also read the Smurfs. By the age of eight my mom and dad started my book collection with my first few chapter books.

I write science fiction mixed with fantasy and dash of romance. I love theoretical physics, have read books written by Kip Thorne, Michio Kaku and the scientist I admire the most Steven Hawking. I love magic and mythical creatures like the dragons and unicorns. Let’s not forget that in real life every one experiences romance in some form. I combine my three favorites.

7. If you had to choose, which writer would you consider a mentor?

To be truthfully honest I’d have to say Louisa May Alcott. I read and reread little women so many times. I wanted to be just like her.

8. Do you have any tips for our readers that might dream of writing?

If your dream is to be an author, take classes and learn the craft well. Hire an editor and have him/her comb through your manuscript even if you want to go the traditional way. Always output the best product you possibly can and never give up.

9. Tell us anything you want?

I have two characters from a book I wrote 13 years ago, still need to edit it, that I’ve never been able to let go, so I started writing another book about them. Hopefully in the near future I’ll send the manuscript to my editor and get it ready for publication. In my unedited queue I have about seven novels and the number is growing faster than I can hand them over to my editor.
